Based on 25+ years of experience in digital transformation in media & entertainment, I am advising senior executives and other key stakeholders on how to leverage information technology for innovation, competitive differentiation, profitable growth and improved efficiency.
I worked for Microsoft from 2006 to 2024 in solution management, business development, and industry management roles, eventually leading Microsoft's telecommunications and media solutions business in Europe, Middle East, and Africa as Managing Director for 6 years. Prior to joining Microsoft, I helped create one of Europe’s most successful independent software vendors for large-scale media asset management systems for broadcasters.
Between 1986 and 1992, I studied business administration, mechanical engineering, and applied informatics at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern and graduated to Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing. (M.Sc.) as one of the best of the year. I then conducted postgraduate research on multimedia and hypermedia systems at the Chair for Business Informatics and Operations Research and delivered lectures in applied informatics (enterprise resource planning systems, database systems, business productivity tools). In parallel, I worked on the editorial team of the magazine "Technology & Management".
From 1995 to 2006, I led a startup, a software provider for broadcast content management systems which later was sold to Avid, a leading provider of digital audio and video technology. From 2006 to 2024, I worked for Microsoft, in solution management, business development, and industry management roles, eventually leading Microsoft's telecommunications and media solutions business in Europe, Middle East, and Africa as Managing Director.
